Tester Certification

About the course

This intense five-day course offers instruction on acceptable test procedures for testing backflow prevention assemblies. Certification enables the tester to test initial installations as well as perform the annual testing of assemblies as required in the Louisiana Administrative Code. The 40 hour course consists of classroom instruction and hands on practice Monday through Thursday with certification exams given on Friday. Students must pass both written and hands on exam in order to receive certification as an approved Backflow Preventer Tester.

***Certification is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of issuance. Individuals must renew their certification within six (6) months of the printed expiration date. Recertification up to six (6) months after the expiration date is permitted, but the certification is not valid between the expiration date and the renewal date. NO INSTALLATIONS, REPAIRS, OR TESTS SHOULD BE DONE DURING THE EXPIRED PERIOD. Failure to recertify by six (6) months after the expiration date will result in the individual having to retake the initial course and exam.***
