LUS Plumber Meetings

Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) is updating its backflow prevention program to promote efficiency and thoroughness in protecting public health and LUS customers. LUS has hired Backflow Prevention Services LLC (BPS) as a consultant to assist in this endeavor.

As part of these new processes, BPS will be conducting mandatory meetings for all plumbers, irrigation contractors, and testers interested in participating in LUS’s program. Each individual plumber, irrigation contractor, or general tester is required to attend one of the scheduled meetings.

The purpose of the meetings is to:

  • Explain the program requirements for installing and testing backflow preventers.
  • Explain the process for submitting test reports (test reports will only be accepted through the data input portal; no paper copies will be accepted).
  • Explain the criteria for being placed on LUS’s Approved Tester List.

Meetings will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 and on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the LUS Administration Building Training Center, 1314 Walker Road, Lafayette, LA 70506. These meetings will be limited to 20 individuals at a time so that BPS can assist you with the new requirements for submitting test reports. Each meeting should last no more than 45 minutes.

Please note: LUS will not accept test reports from plumbers, irrigation contractors, or testers who are not on the Approved Tester List.
